Stuart Associates was approached by the client to collaborate with various professions to revitalize a portion of Bethlehem Pike adjacent to the Fort Washington Train Station. The 6 acre redevelopment proposed first floor retail along Bethlehem Pike with five stories of high density residential, while making a conscience decision to save the historic Wissahickon Hall on site. This site plan encourages direct access to the station for proposed retail tenants and future residents. Completed analysis helped configure the site layout to avoid building in state park land while facilitating the missing gap of the Montgomery County trail system connecting the Wissahickon Green Ribbon Trail and the Cross County Trail. The site received an endorsement from SEPTA for the redevelopment of property exclaiming “such a development is integral to SEPTA as part of its ongoing strategic efforts to attract new ridership, encourage economic development and continue to have solid working relationships with municipalities.”
