The Stuart team was engaged to create an outdoor amenity space for the newly relocated Turn 5 company that specializes in automotive technology. The task was to create an active space where employees could work outside, enjoy lunch, and be used as spill space for events.
The saw-cut concrete patio and building are linked by the automobile through tire-like tracks pressed into the concrete that extend out from garage doors that face out on to the patio. The space also holds both active and passive activities including cornhole over stone fines, horse shoe pits in the lawn, a custom wood structure for outdoor collaborative meetings, bright movable furniture that highlights the Turn 5 orange brand, and landscaped berms to create a sense of space and hierarchy. The planting palette incorporates columnar trees in the patio for height, a heavily meadow groundplane palette, and hot spots of evergreen and flowering shrubs.
