This 252-unit apartment complex is an integral part of the Ellis Preserve “live/work/play” community developed by Equus Capital Partners. The project houses two integrated apartment buildings that hug an outdoor space, creating resort-style interior courtyards. The interior courtyards that frame a diverse programming palette, are built over a parking structure creating an intensive greenroof environment for residents to enjoy. Programming elements include a clubhouse with various activities, a wood-like yoga space, various nooks for intimate settings, a custom designed fire pit to promote conversation, a 1,200SF marble edged pool with a welcoming sun shelf, outdoor kitchens for resident barbeques, a 800SF synthetic turf putting green, a warm lighting design to promote all day use, and various types of seating for all types users. A key element in creating an intimate courtyard design are the stacked stone walls that not only formed the seating nooks, but complemented the building materiality, provided living conditions for the diverse planting palette, and created hospitable roof space for the residents.
