Dating back to 1896, the Berkshire Knitting Mills was home to the “largest full-fashioned knitting mill in the world.” The site was originally envisioned by Fredrick Law Olmstead before being converted into popular Vanity Fair Outlets. The Stuart team was engaged as the site was being re-imagined to UGI campus headquarters.
Working with the county we created a multi modal streetscape for the campus and updated the social spaces for the modern-day work activities while paying homage to the historic vision and materials. Some of these spaces include a crisp plaza accented with brick walls and furnishings, renovated building entries that encompass the richness of the brick found throughout the Mills, and a simple planting scheme that carries to each building, new and old.
